education

where walls are silent but the signs are clear
no one would wait until the fighting starts
or choose through obscure intellectual arts
to make the cost of justice seem not dear
instead we ask of those who are not near
just how we are supposed to play our parts
when none of us has truly known our hearts
and all that we have left's a sullen sort of fear
under such cloud the reply can't come soon
we learn our patience under no gentle rod
but patience we must have under this sky
and when the sun has fallen far from noon
and shadows lengthen on the swift-drying sod
we'll know just how and what's the truest lie
