and in the end know waste and loss

what this coin tells us cannot be enough
who dropped it here long years ago
where have they vanished in the flow
we pause to wonder at this stuff

our hopes are based on what we know
all other things are waste and fluff
our minds are clear and voices gruff
acts must be quick and never slow

such answers as we get are rough
in such soil little good could grow
no one has time to watch the show
one lost his pay now that's just tough

always we're clear we'll lose the glow
and all our hopes harsh life will snuff
and whether in calm mood or huff
our lives will pass in the long flow

let this be said by those who pause
our history's a tale of flaws
we'll rue the treasures we come across
and in the end know waste and loss
