in summing up these days of george's power
one has to bear in mind that the more things change
the more george thinks that it is now the hour
to go beyond the normal human range

and do some thing carry out some banal act
that shows that even though he dominates
he lacks both common sense and simple tact
swearing and scoffing as he bloviates

then all his words declare an impotence
before the changing face of an angry world
leaving us to wonder at this vain pretence
when the flag of action has not been unfurled

and yet the horror and the crying shame
is that george will find someone else to blame
