Odd ravings, comments, and other wastes of time. Some are in plain prose, yet others are in rhyme.

The forgotten war?
Over the weekend four more US soldiers died in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is in danger of becoming the forgotten war as attention is focused on the far greater violence in Iraq. It is, however, just as significant. Increasingly, the Taliban is reasserting itself and occupation forces are finding out what that means.
Unlike the Iraq war, the Afghan war had a real justification. One problem with that is that, four and a half years later, Osama bin Ladin is still missing. Indeed, he's having all sorts of effects while staying out of the hands of American troops.
In Iraq, meanwhile, Osama's boys, the locals, the Americans, and the Iranians are cooking up a stew that is getting hotter and hotter. One wonders what the bill is going to be.
