On the left is the tomb of Santiago (St James), under the altar at the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The old town is a beautifully preserved mediæval and renaissance city. The stone streets can be hard on the feet, but the journey there is worth it, even for a die-hard secularist such as I am. The cathedral is an extraordinary building, and I'm sorry that my photo of the Pórtico da Gloria didn't come out.
