a time for peace

no sort of duty that might be required
would drive a man to madness or far worse
in deepest dark his thinking to immerse

we aren't the ones who say that we are tired
there's no need here for helper nor for nurse
no sort of duty that might be required

in all of this we find that we've been mired
in processes that we can't now reverse
we wait to be borne off in that large hearse
no sort of duty that might be required
