generation voyage
a million years will pass too soon
earth will not change much nor the stars
small ice-caps still appear on mars
permanent footprints dot the moon
we ask for nothing we desire no boon
the sun cares little for our human jars
einstein has told us all about the bars
we know the numbers just make us swoon
a journey that might take a dozen lives
or many generations more than that
and still we will not reach another earth
we could cram folk into some giant hives
allow them to traverse in nothing flat
and still not bring a galaxy to birth
