The expedition

We're, all of us, set on the Way
to find the truth within each heart,
our hope is simple: none may depart
until they've seen an honest day
or had a chance to hunt and slay
the monster, with a rapid dart,
and then to cleave its soul apart
and find within the bloody spray.
Let each of us swear by the light
that we will make this journey soon
and not delay until the dark;
we will not pause, nor day, nor night,
we'll press on even at the noon
and leave at last our simple mark.
