waking slowly october morning

warm morning rumbling of a passing train
reminds that we are calmly here between
the heat of summer and the winter's pain

once more we turn to duty yet again
to do our jobs to see what can be seen
warm morning rumbling of a passing train

things are set out they could not be more plain
they signify a journey and they mean
the heat of summer and the winter's pain

today it is no different still the strain
the struggle and all we do to glean
warm morning rumbling of a passing train

the thoughts that percolate throughout my brain
about things that are not that have never been
the heat of summer and the winter's pain

quietly now in passing we annotate the main
points of discourse before we quit the scene
warm morning rumbling of a passing train
the heat of summer and the winter's pain
