apology for inconvenience

i'm told there was a technical delay
it was the calm voice announced minor
in just a minute we'd be on our way
to job home friends loves and airliner
we wait and go and stop to wait again
the car fills up with angry staring faces
we're passengers all on a stalled train
delayed in getting unto sundry places
i hear your voice inside urging me calm
annoyance won't get me there any faster
i think of you spreading a soothing balm
of your kind hand smooth as alabaster
i'll get to work and manage through the day
that is the task it is the only way
