Saparmurat Niyazov, the tyrant of Turkmenistan, who calls himself Turkmenbashi, has jumped the shark. This isn't to say that he hadn't been distinctly odd before. Niyazov has stated that anyone who reads his bore, er, book Rukhnama, three times will go to heaven.
"A person that reads Rukhnama becomes smart ... and after it,
he will go straight to heaven. I asked Allah that for a person who reads it
three times - at home, at sunset and at dawn - to go straight to heaven."
